Welcome to Sunrise Rescue!

Our Non-Profit serves all of San Diego County and South Orange County.

Some animals require a little extra special care. Many or our animals are put on the euthanasia list or are in a dire situation when they come to us. We do everything we can to rehabilitate and adopt them out to loving and caring families. We have successfully adopted many animals to their forever homes with great pet owners. We can always use your help if you would like to join our team. We are looking for fosters to help keep pets safe and cared for prior to their adoption.

If you would like to donate to our cause, we definitely need your help! Please use the link above or the button below to make a donation.

“Bernice” Needs a Hospice Foster

FeLV+ “Bernice” is at least 14 years old and is looking for an adopter or hospice foster. Needs dental work but her blood work isn’t good enough for anesthesia to be safe. Very sweet girl. Good with all people and dogs. Needs to be an only cat or with another FeLV+ cat. Food and supplies, and vetting covered for the rest of her life, by the rescue. Please contact us if you are interested.

Cat Meet & Greet Adoption Event

Come meet our adoptable cats! All our cats are fully vetted (spayed/neutered, microchipped. FELV/FIV tested, up to date on vaccines) and ready for immediate adoption!

SATURDAY, MARCH 6 AT 6910 MIRAMAR ROAD, SAN DIEGO

We are also accepting drop-off donations at this time. Follow us on social media for more information! 🙂

Save “Scout!”

Scout doesn’t deserve to die! Our vet called us tonight and asked if our rescue could take in this 3 year old owner relinquished tabby. He has a urinary blockage and his owners didn’t want to pay for treatment and asked for him to be euthanized.

The vet asked us if we could take him under our wing. He will need a catheter inserted into his urethra and left there, while hospitalized, for three days to break up the blockage and make sure it has cleared. Blood and urin lab work. And they will neuter him while he is under anesthesia.

The estimate is just over $2,000. Any donations will help cover the cost. If desired, donations can go straight to his vet bill at All Day Pet Hospital, under Sunrise Rescue.

After “Scout” is in the clear, healthy, and issues are resolved, he will be available for adoption. We can’t image what this poor guy feels like right now. He must be in so much pain, confused, and very scared.

Thank you Samantha!

A very special adoption yesterday! “Twinkle” survived panleukapenia, malnutrition, a ruptured eye ulcer, round worms, tape worms, fleas, and an upper respiratory infection, ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! Adopted by her loving foster, Samantha. We wish you both a happy life together!🥰💖🐈‍⬛

Go Chuck!

“Chuck” is a sweet old guy rockin’ his mange and FIV+ status. Looks like he’s been spending too many days pretending to be a cowboy. Getting him all fixed up! 🤎🐈

Help for Hal

What do you do when you have sent a cat to 8 different vets and none of them can figure out what’s wrong with him? You send him to vet #9. Originally pulled from the euthanasia list at the shelter in Moreno Valley, “Hal” and his breathing issues are sounding worse. This poor guy has been like this for about a year now. Multiple antibiotics, x-rays, even a guided camera down his throat and we can’t figure out why he breathes with a curdling snore, and always has a congested, boogery nose. He feels stiff when you pet him due to increased muscle development from over use of his auxiliary muscles to breathe.

Two vets have recommended euthanasia, but Hal is a happy guy! He doesn’t seem to know the difference. Loves to play, is extremely affectionate, and particularly likes kittens. We even had a problem with him sneaking them away from new moms, taking them off to his own space to cuddle and groom their fur. He’s a super sweet boy! We currently have him hospitalized and on IV antibiotics to see if it makes a difference. More x-rays, blood labs, breathing treatments and another nose culture to check for fungus and bacteria, again. Last resort will be an expensive MRI. But there is a chance that Hal could stay this way for the rest of his life with an unknown prognosis, considering him un-adoptable, and in hospice. We refuse to give up on him!
